The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that India will participate in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy after a Special General Meeting on Sunday. It has further emerged that the Indian squad for the tournament will be announced on Monday.
“It was a unanimous decision that the Indian team will be participating in the Champions Trophy. We will not take any legal recourse in the matter. Mr Amitabh Chaudhary and CEO Rahul Johri will negotiate with ICC,” a senior office-bearer told.
Former Indian captain and CAB president Sourav Ganguly, CK Khanna, Amitabh Choudhary, Rajiv Shukla were present in the meeting among other officials. The ICC’s deadline for announcing the team or the Champions Trophy was April 25.
