Months ahead of the festive season sales, Flipkart and Amazon have lined up early discounts and deals of up to 80 per cent across their brands. The two e-commerce websites are fighting a pitched battle to become the market leader in the online retail space.
During the limited period sale, the two e-tailing portals have put on offer products across various categories with aggressive prices. The products range from clothing to smartphones and many kinds of accessories.
Flipkart’s sale will be called the ‘Big 10’ and will take place between May 14 to May 18 to mark the online marketplace’s 10th anniversary. The focus of the sale will be mainly on smartphones, televisions, consumer electronics, fashion and accessories. The five-day Big 10 sale is separate from its flagship ‘The Big Billion Days’ sale.
Talking about Flipkart’s 10th anniversary, CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy said, “Flipkart created the e-commerce market in India when it started in 2007, and millions of customers from smaller towns and villages have benefitted by shopping with us over the years. Our innovative programs such as consumer finance, delivery and installation for large electronics, and product exchange have made great products affordable and accessible.”
Fashion e-tailer Myntra, which is owned by Flipkart, will also hold an independent sale on the same dates.
Not so far behind, rival Amazon has announced its ‘Great India Sale’ between May 11 to May 14 saying that deals will see ‘never-seen-before-prices’. Amazon’s deals will be spread across all its categories.
Additionally, there are many exchange-offers as well as cashback offers on bank cards, on both Flipkart and Amazon. The cashback offers range from 5 percent to 15 percent depending on the types of cards which are used for purchase.
